Kate Burrett - Paintings and Mixed Media

Originally from the UK, I graduated with a First Class BA Hons Fine Art degree from Staffordshire University. I then completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Education at Reading University and taught Art and Design to secondary school children for 15 years, managing three successful Art departments.

 

I have continued to pursue my own artwork throughout my teaching career, and since moving to The Netherlands in 2013 I have found inspiration in the Dutch landscape as well as children’s portraiture, specialising in oil painting and mixed media.

 

“I am fascinated by a number of ways of seeing, from pure observation, as is evident in my portraiture, to abstraction. Like many artists, my process involves a balance between intuition and careful deliberation".

My focus in 2016 has been a body of work called ‘Souvenir’. This reflects the creative union of two aspects of my life, that of artist and expat. As expat life tends to be transitory, my aim here is to create stylish and unique artwork that can be commissioned to hang in your home. A personal keepsake and lasting memory of life in The Netherlands. My childrens' portraiture can also be purchased as a commission.

 

My love for teaching Art has never left me. I run fun and relaxed Art workshops for children and adults aimed at developing creativity and a personal approach to making art.
